2007 Best Filmmaker on Campus

Congratulations to the 2007 Best Filmmaker on Campus Award winner Josh Greenbaum. Check out his, and runner up Maria Gigante's, experience at the 2007 MTV Movie Awards (link to the feature) where Josh received his Golden Popcorn Statue and a development deal with MTV Films worth up to $25,000.

Modest Mouse Winner - Joe Stakun

Modest Mouse and mtvU reviewed the Top 5 entries and have picked a winner. Joe Stakun, a 21 year-old "total dude" from Temple University in Philadelphia created the winning video for the song "We've Got Everything" that puts Modest Mouse on the Moon. Now, this BFOC star gets a Sony HDR-HC5 High Definition Mini DV 2.1MP Handycam Camcorder and a video premiere on mtvU and mtvU.com.

Bamboo Shoots are mtvU and Epic's Artist of the Year

Bamboo Shoots from Middlesex County College in New Jersey have won the Best Music On Campus Artist of the Year contest. The prize includes a record deal with Epic Records and more. The band also made their national television debut as mtvU unveiled the winner on Late Night with Conan O'Brien.

PAST WINNERS

Student Filmmaker Award

Joshua Caldwell was awarded the first Student Filmmaker Award for his film, A Beautiful Lie. In addition to being flown out to Los Angeles to accept his golden popcorn statue at the 2006 MTV Movie Awards, Joshua received a multi-platform development deal with mtvU. A Beautiful Lie appeared on mtvU and mtvU.com.

Best Film on Campus 2005

In 2005 students were asked to create trailers telling the story of a movie they would want to make, basically, stuffing all the good stuff into 2 minutes. On December 13th, 2005 mtvU announced that University of Iowa student Scott Beck had won Best Film On Campus 2005 with his entry, University Heights. As the winner, Beck received a development deal with MTV Films and a complete home entertainment system. His film University Heights aired as a feature on mtvU and mtvU.com.
