Hi. I hope you enjoy viewing the trailer to my short film LUCY: A PERIOD PIECE, a comedy about a tiny and shapeless sixteen-year-old girl desperate to finally enter puberty.

Julie Sagalowsky is an award-winning writer/director currently completing her master’s degree at UCLA’s MFA Film Directing program. In 2007, Julie won the prestigious UCLA Director’s Spotlight Award for her first-year film RUTHLESS, a dark comedy about the viciousness of little girls’ friendships. In 2008, Julie again won the Spotlight Award, this time for her second-year film LUCY: A PERIOD PIECE, a comedy about a tiny and shapeless sixteen-year-old girl desperate to finally enter puberty. This film also won First Place in Comedy at the 2009 College Television Awards (Student Emmys) from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, as well as the Audience Award for Best Short at the 2009 AFI Dallas International Film Festival. The film recently won a 2009 BAFTA Student Film Award (Second Place) and the Jury Award for Best Short at the 2009 Feel Good Film Festival, a fest in Hollywood dedicated to films with happy endings. Julie has won the Edie & Lew Wasserman Award, a UCLA Affiliates scholarship, multiple MPAA awards, a Film and Fiction scholarship from the IHS, and a Texas Filmmakers’ Production Fund award. Before moving to Los Angeles, Julie graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Dartmouth College with a major in Theater.
