Michelle's creative spirit is driven by her desire to offer stories that create laughter, instill respect, and inspire action. Throughout her time at UCLA, Michelle has created award winning films that offer messages of friendship and hope. In response to the US invasion of Iraq, Michelle created a film called, "Friendship Bread," where ingredients animate to create a symbol of peace. In 2008, Michelle was awarded a Student Emmy for her thesis, "Camp Bean: All Things Woodsey," an expression of her love of nature and summer camp. She recently collaborated with her husband, also an animator, Bill Tessier to create and animate the prologue for "Warrior Queen" a live action film directed by Hezekiah Lewis. "Warrior Queen" is the story of Nana Yaa Asantewaa and her courage to lead the Ashanti people against British Colonial rule. After recieving her MFA from UCLA in 2007, Michelle continues to work at various animation studios in Los Angeles and continues to write and create original work.
